Why use WSU Research Exchange?
- Research Exchange preserves digital items into the future: The software used for the Research Exchange service, DSpace, was architected to support the preservation task.
- Research Exchange makes the work of researchers more accessible through Google searches and repository searching: Research Exchange supports the Open Archives Initiatives' metadata harvesting protocol, which supports harvesting of Research Exchange content by search engines and discipline-specific repositories.
- Research Exchange provides researchers with durable links that won't break: Each record in Research Exchange has an associated handle that will be preserved over time. This durable, reliable identifier can then be included in course materials and footnotes in journal articles.
- Research Exchange enables researchers to maintain control over their own content: Researchers can log into and submit materials to the repository.
- The server administration and preservation tasks are performed centrally: The Research Exchange system is housed on a high-end server, and backup/archiving processes are in place as part of preservation support.
