Al Cornish served at the WSU Libraries from 1999 to 2013, including as the Head, Library Systems from 2006 to 2013. Cornish previously worked as a Systems Librarian at the National Library of Medicine from 1997 to 1999, serving on the Relais document delivery system implementation team. Relais was used to automate and streamline the library's interlibrary loan and document delivery workflows; this implementation was part of NLM's efforts as a Federal Reinvention Laboratory. Cornish also worked as an automation librarian at the Texas A&M University Libraries from 1992 to 1997. He served (as Coordinator, Electronic Reference Services) on the team that opened Texas A&M's West Campus Library, a highly-automated library facility.
This collection primarily features library automation research, including areas such as digital collections and document delivery technologies.
